Stephany M. AshtonBiographyStephany Ashton is an Associate in Wicker Smith’s Fort Lauderdale office, where her practice focuses primarily on general liability matters. Stephany is a skilled litigator with a strong foundation in both criminal and civil law. She began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender, serving first in Tallahassee and later in Fort Lauderdale. During her time in criminal defense, Stephany represented hundreds of clients accused of serious felony offenses and tried many cases to verdict. In 2022, Stephany transitioned into civil litigation defense. She worked at two well-known regional firms in Florida, defending insurance companies in PIP litigation matters before joining Wicker Smith in 2025. Stephany attended college at the University of West Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies with a minor in Public Administration. She then went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she was a receipt of the Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation Fellowship and received a certificate for Outstanding Pro Bono Service.
