Justin I. Hale

Justin I. Hale is a Partner in Wicker Smith’s Birmingham office where he focuses his litigation practice primarily on the defense of personal injury, medical malpractice and wrongful death, product liability, premises liability, toxic tort claims, insurance first party and third party litigation, transportation, and insurance coverage matters.

He earned his B.A. in History from Samford University and his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University. During his time at Cumberland, Justin served as an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. Justin was also selected by the school’s faculty to participate in the Judge Abraham Caruthers Teaching Fellowship.

Post law school, he worked as a civil defense attorney for over 15 years and then served as general counsel for a healthcare executive recruiting company. Over the course of his career, Justin’s litigation practice has included the defense of a wide range of clients, from physicians to Fortune 500 companies, in the areas of medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, transportation, and insurance dispute and coverage matters. While in private practice, Justin achieved an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and he was listed as a Rising Star in Mid-South Super Lawyers® 2012-2020.

Justin is admitted to practice before the Northern District, Middle District, and Southern District Courts of Alabama as well as all the Alabama State Courts. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar, Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and the Defense Research Institute.

Justin lives in Birmingham and is married to Jessica. They have three kids, who keep their lives full of fun and adventure. Outside of practicing law, Justin enjoys reading, watching college football, and coaching youth sports.
