John David "J.D." Thompson

John David “J.D.” Thompson is an associate in the Jacksonville office of Wicker Smith, where his practice focuses on general liability, automobile negligence, medical malpractice, and premises liability matters.

J.D. earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University, before continuing his education at Stetson University College of Law, where he served as a member of the Dispute Resolution Board.

As a law student, J.D. served as a Judicial Intern to The Honorable Judge Elizabeth Rice in the criminal division of Florida’s Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court, assisting with legal research and writing and observing criminal and civil proceedings. He spent his 2L summer as a Summer Associate in Wicker Smith’s Jacksonville office and joined the firm full time upon his admission to the Florida Bar in 2026.

J.D. is active in his community, having volunteered with Buddy Baseball, organizing tournaments for athletes with disabilities, as well as with Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army. Outside of work, he enjoys NFL football, fishing, clay shooting, trivia, and surfing.
