Jessica B. Black

Jessica B. Black is an associate in Wicker Smith’s Jacksonville office, focusing mainly on medical malpractice and general and premises liability matters.

Jessica brings a wealth of experience in the public sector to her position at Wicker Smith. As a young lawyer she served for two years as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County in the County & Juvenile Criminal Litigation Unit, managing a high-volume litigation schedule. She also spent four years working as a special education defense litigator in the New York City Department of Education, where she served as lead counsel in high-priority hearings related to the implementation of the district’s special education programs. Jessica is well-versed in navigating the nuances of risk management and complicated federal compliance standards, and her understanding of such requirements informs her work as a litigator in private practice.

Outside of her professional obligations, Jessica is a civil rights advocate who volunteers her time with the Innovative Community Engagement Foundation, an organization that empowers underserved populations through service programs such as fundraising and professional development support.
