James Alan Potts, IIBiographyJames Alan “Jay” Potts, II is a Shareholder in Wicker Smith’s Birmingham office where he focuses his practice primarily in the areas of tractor-trailer litigation, construction litigation, premises liability, real estate disputes, insurance coverage and products liability. Jay has been a defense litigator for over 20 years, and is regarded by his peers as one of the most prolific civil trial attorneys in the state of Alabama. He has tried more than 50 jury trials and arbitrations throughout his career, with more than 90% of those resulting in a positive verdict for his client. Prior to entering into private practice, Jay spent several years in-house at a national casualty underwriter; he understands not only the liability issues his clients face, but the administrative challenges involved in litigation as well. Jay is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama School of Law. He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and was included in the Top 40 Under 40 for attorneys by the Birmingham Business Journal.
