Wicker Smith Launches ‘A Slice for a Life’ Effort to Aid Local Pizzerias and Healthcare Workers
MIAMI/JACKSONVILLE – APRIL 17, 2020 – Civil litigation defense firm, Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford P.A., launched the ‘A Slice for a Life’ effort to support both local pizzerias and healthcare workers during the COVID-19 outbreak, delivering pizzas for lunch to more than 4 regional hospitals in its first week including Aventura Hospital and Medical Center and Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.
The ‘A Slice for a Life’ effort begins with a phone call from a Wicker Smith attorney to a medical facility. Once permission is granted to send food, Wicker Smith attorneys work with hospital management to place large quantity orders of pizzas from local restaurants who may be struggling financially during the outbreak. One of the steps in this process is making sure that the participating restaurants use proper employee and food safety precautions before ordering. The pizza is then delivered to regional hospitals and enjoyed by doctors, nurses, and other care workers to help them re-energize and to encourage them to continue performing lifesaving work.
This project is the result of Wicker Smith partners coming together to help our communities which includes Richards Ford, Oscar Cabanas, Nicholas Christin, Jack McCoy, Leslie McCormick, Lynn Audie, Kurt Spengler, and more. Although ‘A Slice for a Life’ is a nationwide effort, many of the contributions have been in Florida because of the greater impact of the virus in this region.
“Words can’t fully express the gratitude we have for each and every healthcare worker supporting our communities!” – Nicholas Christin, Wicker Smith Managing Partner.
