Carlos “Charlie” Garcia Appointed To The Southern District Of Florida’s Committee Court-Annexed Mediation
FORT LAUDERDALE – AUGUST 20, 2020 – Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford P.A. attorney Carlos “Charlie” Garcia, a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office, has been appointed by the Chief Judge K. Michael Moore to serve as a member of the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Court-Annexed Mediation for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Mr. Garcia is one of seven members serving the Chief Judge for a term of three years. Committee members are assigned to assist in formulating policy and standards governing the qualifications of mediators and the operation of the mediation program and develop reporting requirements for mediators to assist in evaluating performance. The Committee periodically reviews the work product, performance, and records of certified mediators and are further charged with the responsibility of assisting the Court in formulating and implementing a mechanism for receiving and resolving complaints regarding the mediation process.
Carlos “Charlie” Garcia is a partner in Wicker Smith’s Fort Lauderdale office, where he devotes his practice to complex civil litigation, class action defense, employment law, and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on federal court practice. Mr. Garcia was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2012 and is an active member of the Florida Bar and Federal Bar Association. He was appointed as a member of the Southern District of Florida’s Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Court-Annexed Mediation in August 2020.
