Local Law Firm Helps Donate 2,534 Meals and 360 Room Nights to Front Line Healthcare Workers in Orlando
MIAMI/ORLANDO – MAY 11, 2020 – In support of area doctors, nurses and hospital staff working diligently on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford P.A. joined an ongoing effort organized by a coalition of concerned citizens to donate hundreds of meals and room nights weekly to medical facility staff members across Orlando, Florida. Towards the end of the effort, healthcare facilities fighting the virus, including Orlando Health hospitals, received donations of over 2,534 meals between shifts and 360 room nights for isolation.
Meal deliveries and room reservations for this effort began in mid-April and took place multiple times a week. It also helped restaurants and catering companies continue to keep their doors open as locally-owned struggling businesses were primarily sourced for participating in the program.
“Frontline healthcare workers are our soldiers in this deadly war. We must ensure they are fed and well rested so they have the strength to win this battle,” said Kurt Spengler, a partner in Wicker Smith’s Orlando office. “We are proud to support those who have been forced to work extended shifts and isolate after work, sleeping in garages and cars, to save the lives of loved ones.”
