Megan HortonBiographyMegan R. Horton is an associate in the Tampa office of Wicker Smith, where she focuses her practice on retail, premises liability, and transportation matters. Prior to joining Wicker Smith, Megan served as Senior Attorney for the Southwest Florida Water Management District, where she represented the agency in litigation before state and administrative tribunals. She began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orlando, Florida, where she gained extensive jury trial experience and became Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law. Megan earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of South Florida, graduating cum laude in 2007. She then continued her studies at Stetson University College of Law, where she graduated in 2012 with a Juris Doctor and a Certification of Concentration in Advocacy. While in law school, she interned with the Public Defender’s Office in Pinellas County and Hillsborough County. She is an active member of The Florida Bar, and serves on the Florida Bar’s Code and Rules of Evidence Committee. She is a member of the Trial Lawyers and Young Lawyers sections of the Florida Bar. Megan is also a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and on the Board of Directors for the St. Petersburg Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
