Jacob BrunerBiographyJacob Bruner is an associate in the Miami office of Wicker Smith, where his practice focuses on premises liability, retail, and negligent security. Jacob graduated magna cum laude from Sewanee: The University of the South with a degree in Politics. He went on to attend law school at the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as a Senator in the Student Bar Association, as a member of the First-Generation Law Student Association, and was the Chief Notes and Comments Editor for the Race and Social Justice Law Review. Jacob dedicated much of his work and volunteer time throughout his education to public interest projects. As an undergraduate, he worked with a non-profit dedicated to sustainably building homes for original residents in the lower ninth ward in New Orleans and co-directed an on-campus mental health campaign for students. During law school, he completed internships with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, Felony Division, and the University of Miami Investor Rights Clinic. He also completed a clerkship at a Miami-area business law firm during his second year of law school and was a summer associate with Wicker Smith’s Miami office before joining the firm full time. Prior to starting law school Jacob worked for two years in the supply chain and logistics industry for one of the world’s top freight forwarding companies. His role was focused on airfreight importing, starting in operations before being promoted to airfreight client services. Outside of the office, Jacob is an avid traveler, having visited more than 19 countries and counting.
