Wicker Smith’s Richard E. Ramsey and Jonathon S. Miller Named Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite 2020 for Civil Trial

June 26, 2020     Featured News, Firm Announcements, Firm News by c.echeverria

MIAMI – JUNE 26, 2020 – Civil litigation defense firm, Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford P.A., is pleased to announce Richard E. Ramsey and Jonathon S. Miller, partners in the Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale offices, have been named among the Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite 2020 for the practice area of Civil Trial. Fewer than 2 percent of active Florida Bar members practicing in Florida appear among the exclusive Florida Legal Elite.

Richard E. Ramsey joined Wicker Smith in 1990. He is one of four managing partners within the firm and is located in the Jacksonville office where he is responsible for overseeing office operations. Mr. Ramsey has over 33 years of experience focusing on professional liability including medical and legal malpractice. He has been asked by several legal malpractice carriers to defend their insureds on cases ranging from complex business transactions, personal injury, trust & estate and taxation matters. His medical malpractice experience is equally varied and his success rate in 60 trials is ninety percent. He is also well-versed on a broad array of complex litigation involving transportation matters, retail and restaurant defense, healthcare law and risk management, casualty claims defense, products liability, construction, product liability, nursing home, and employment litigation.

Jonathon S. Miller joined Wicker Smith in 2008 and is a Partner in the Fort Lauderdale office. Mr. Miller earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2000, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University (FSU) in 2003, graduating with honors. He is licensed to practice law in both the state and federal courts of Florida and New Jersey, and has received an “AV” Preeminent® rating by Martindale-Hubbell since 2014, the highest rating awarded by that organization. He has also been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and an “Up and Comer” by Florida Legal Elite. Mr. Miller is a member of the Broward and Palm Beach County Bar Associations.

The Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite invites in-state members of the Florida Bar to nominate and vote on piers whom they hold in high regard or would recommend to others. The ballots are then calculated based on the number of votes they received, with more weight applied to votes from outside their own firms. The 2020 honorees represent less than 1.4 percent of all practicing Florida attorneys.
