Kevin CrewsKevin Crews Kevin W. Crews is a Shareholder in Wicker Smith’s Naples office. An integral driver of the firm’s growth in Southwest Florida, Kevin moved from the firm’s Miami office to assist in the opening of Naples in 2001. Today, he is the managing partner in Naples, overseeing day-to-day office operations in addition to his full litigation schedule. Under Kevin’s leadership, the Naples office has grown from a team of three lawyers to a team of more than twenty, representing some of the firm’s largest corporate, healthcare, retail, hospitality, and construction clients. Kevin has been a trial lawyer for 30 years, focusing his practice on the defense of hospitals and physicians, as well as general and premises liability claims, negligent security, employment and products liability. He serves as principal trial counsel for multiple clients, including multiple hospital systems in Southwest Florida, multiple physician group practices, long term and acute care facilities, and multiple Fortune 500 companies. He also serves as principal trial attorney in employment law matters for a Fortune 100 company throughout the state of Florida. Kevin is also a former senior attorney with the Florida Department of Health, and today defends healthcare facilities and providers in regulatory matters involving the Agency for Healthcare Administration and Florida Department of Health. Kevin has tried nearly 100 cases to verdict throughout the state of Florida, with an overwhelming percentage of complete defense verdicts to his credit — including one memorable week where he obtained two defense verdicts in the same week in front of two different juries. As the son of a former hospital executive, Kevin has a passion for defending healthcare professionals and facilities. He brings his wealth of knowledge and multi-dimensional experience to bear in helping to protect those people and guide them through the often-contentious landscape of a lawsuit. Kevin was a collegiate athlete, and the same competitive spirit that served him well in sports, serves him well in the courtroom. Kevin’s achievements throughout his career have been recognized by his peers, earning him an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has been recognized as a top medical malpractice lawyer by Florida Super Lawyers since 2013, and is a member and past President of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). In 2022 Kevin was recognized by invitation to the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL), an exclusive invitation only trial lawyer organization. A frequent lecturer, Kevin has presented dozens of continuing education seminars to clients on a variety of topics including risk management issues, winning trial strategies, and medical malpractice and general liability best practices. He is also a long time member of the Orange Bowl Committee, responsible for hosting the NCAA Orange Bowl Championship game.
