Erin M. Diaz joined Wicker Smith in 2003 and is a partner in the Tampa office. Ms. Diaz earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1994. As an undergraduate, she also completed the Air Force ROTC program earning her Officer commission upon graduation. She thereafter served as a Registered Nurse and Officer in the United States Air Force from 1994-1998 at Eglin Air Force Base focusing her nursing practice in the care and treatment of post-operative surgical patients, as well as in the recovery room. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the military, she furthered her education receiving her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2001 where she was a member of the Law Review and Moot Court Team.
She then practiced in North Dakota and Minnesota until 2003 when she moved to Florida and joined Wicker Smith. Since then, Ms. Diaz’s practice has focused upon defending physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice and nursing home litigation. She also has a wide range of experience handling general litigation matters to include negligent security, products liability, construction and premises cases. Ms. Diaz has earned an AV PreeminentTM rating from her peers, the highest-level rating awarded to lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell.
Ms. Diaz has tried several medical malpractice, long term care, and general liability cases in the State of Florida. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, and CLM. She also continues to maintain her West Virginia Nursing License.
