Erin M. Diaz joined Wicker Smith in 2003 and is a partner in the Tampa office. She received her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of North Dakota in 2001 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University, graduating summa cum laude in 1994.
Ms. Diaz is a Captain in the United States Air Force inactive reserves and spent four years serving as a registered nurse before attending law school. Her extensive background in nursing has proven to be a valuable asset in her law practice, which focuses primarily on defending physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice, pharmaceutical/pharmacy and nursing home litigation. She also has a wide variety of experience handling cases involving products liability and general litigation matters. In addition, her passion for the law has earned Ms. Diaz an AV® PreeminentTM rating from her peers, the highest level rating awarded to lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell.
She then practiced in North Dakota and Minnesota until 2003 when she moved to Florida and joined Wicker Smith. Since then, Ms. Diaz’s practice has focused upon defending physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice and nursing home litigation. She also has a wide range of experience handling general litigation matters to include negligent security, products liability, construction and premises cases. Ms. Diaz has earned an AV PreeminentTM rating from her peers, the highest-level rating awarded to lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell.
Ms. Diaz has tried several medical malpractice, long term care, and general liability cases in the State of Florida. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, and CLM. She also continues to maintain her West Virginia Nursing License. Ms. Diaz is admitted to practice in the states of North Dakota, Minnesota and Florida.
