Courtney MarasBiographyCourtney R. Maras is an associate in Wicker Smith’s Fort Lauderdale office where she focuses her practice in medical malpractice and general negligence cases. In 2017, Ms. Maras earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of Florida with a major in political science and minor in business administration. She then continued her education at University of Florida Levin College of Law where she graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2020 and placed on the Dean’s List in 2019. During law school, she completed a semester in practice within the Consumer Protection Division at the Florida Attorney General’s Office in West Palm Beach. She was also a member of the Florida Journal of International Law. Additionally, Ms. Maras was the Vice-President of the Estate and Trusts Law Society. Prior to joining Wicker Smith, Ms. Maras was an associate at a first-party property law firm. Ms. Maras has been admitted to practice in the State of Florida since 2020. She is an active member of The Florida Bar, Broward County Bar Association, and the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale. Representative Matters
Successful Bench Trial Result in a Heel Ulceration Case
The subject case of this bench trial involved allegations of medical negligence resulting in the patient developing a left heel ulceration. The case was a survival action wherein we were able to dismantle the claims of pain and suffering via summary judgment. Additionally, we were able to reduce the associated medical expenses to $142.
