Amanda RitucciBiographyAmanda Ritucci is a partner in Wicker Smith’s West Palm Beach office. An Orlando native, she joined the firm as a law clerk in the Orlando office in 2010. She subsequently joined our West Palm Beach office and has made her career here ever since. While Amanda is experienced in multiple practice areas, her work focuses primarily on the defense of hospitals, surgery centers, and other healthcare facilities. A trial lawyer at heart, Amanda has represented both national and regional hospital systems in multi-million-dollar litigation up and down Florida’s Atlantic coast and throughout the more rural areas of South-Central Florida. She frequently handles cases involving labor and delivery; pediatric care; surgical specialties to include neurosurgery, trauma, orthopaedics, plastics, GI procedures, and anesthesia; as well as other catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters. She has tried dozens of complex medical malpractice cases throughout her career. Amanda has extensive experience with cases involving complicated births and birth-related injuries. She is adept at navigating the emotionally fraught circumstances of these cases with diplomacy, knowledge, and care, resulting in resolutions that are fair and reasonable for all parties. Some of Amanda’s recent trial accomplishments include securing a six-figure jury award in an admitted liability birth injury case in which Plaintiffs had demanded $100 million pre-trial and a defense verdict in an anesthesia case alleging permanent brain damage. Amanda also frequently handles medical malpractice claims tried before the Division of Administrative Hearings pursuant to offers to arbitrate made pursuant to and with the benefits of the provisions and caps afforded to clients under Florida’s Medical Malpractice Act. Outside of her law practice, Amanda and her husband are raising three young children. When she can find a free moment in between work and family responsibilities, she is also an avid long-distance runner. Professional & Civic Affiliations

Avoiding a Nuclear Verdict in South Florida
We represented the hospital in this admitted liability case involving a medication error during the resuscitation of an infant, allegedly resulting in HIE and brain damage. Plaintiff’s life care expert presented a life care plan in excess of $32 million, and Plaintiff’s counsel asked for $72.5 million in closing arguments. The jury ultimately awarded $158,000, which triggered an award for attorneys’ fees pursuant to a previously rejected proposal for settlement.
Defense Verdict: Palm Beach County, Florida (Medical Malpractice)
