Jose Chio

Jose Chio is an associate in the Miami office of Wicker Smith, where his practice focuses on retail and transportation matters.

Jose attended college at Florida International University, where he graduated cum laude in 2022 with a pre-law certificate and an undergraduate degree in criminal justice. He went on to attend law school at St. Thomas University College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2025.

Jose worked his way through college as the head mechanic at a paving company where he not only diagnosed and repaired a wide variety of mechanical issues for the fleet vehicles but also got a first-hand view of general contracting and the rules, regulations, and safety protocols involved therein. This makes Jose uniquely experienced to represent clients that work in the trades, as his own firsthand experience gives him an informed perspective about the challenges they face and the needs of their businesses.

Jose’s legal experience includes an internship with a real estate firm in South Florida, and as a law clerk with Catholic Legal Services of Miami.

Outside of the office, Jose can be found playing golf or practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
