Wicker Smith has extensive experience in the representation of clients in matters involving the Department of Financial Services, which includes the Office of Insurance Regulation. The firm represents clients through investigating and litigating insurance fraud claims. The firm also has a practice group dedicated to the representation of insurance carriers that dispute inappropriate medical claims. Among the Department’s numerous responsibilities, it also oversees Florida’s Division of Unclaimed Property. Given our involvement in the administration of groundbreaking In re Allapattah DFC Qualified Settlement Fund, whereby we represented the interests of 35 states as the putative owners of unclaimed class member claims, we have unique experience working with unclaimed property funds which can be leveraged to assist current and future clients in making claims through this program. In addition, the firm represents clients in responding to Civil Remedy Notices, the precursor under Florida law to a claim for insurer bad faith, which are filed through the Department.
