Sander WeinerBiographySander Weiner is an Associate in the Jacksonville office of Wicker Smith where he focuses his practice on commercial litigation, premises liability, and labor and employment issues. He is licensed in Illinois and Florida. He graduated in 2017 from the Chicago-Kent College of Law with a Juris Doctor with a concentration in Labor and Employment Law. He holds a Bachelor of Administration in Philosophy from Northeastern Illinois University where he graduated summa cum laude. Prior to joining Wicker Smith, Sander spent more than 4 years as an Attorney with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council where he successfully negotiated dozens of public employment collective bargaining agreements. He acted as lead counsel in over 200 litigated grievance arbitrations and settled many other individual and class action grievances. He co-wrote and successfully lobbied for the passage of the Illinois Service Members Employment and Reemployment Act on behalf of military service members and law enforcement citizen soldiers. During law school, Sander served as a law clerk with a large business law firm in Chicago, Illinois. After law school he stayed on as an Attorney where he gained experience in the defense of litigated workers’ compensation claims. He also serviced as co-chair of the firm’s Veteran’s Affinity Group and participated in the firm’s first Diversity Conference. Representative Matters
Defense Verdict in a Slip and Fall Case
Plaintiff slipped and fell on ice water that had been dropped by another customer. It was claimed that our employee had actual knowledge of the danger and she failed to warn Plaintiff before he fell. Plaintiff claimed a torn rotator cuff and herniated disks in his lower back and generated approximately $400k in past and future medical expenses. The jury deliberated for less than 45 minutes before returning a complete defense verdict.
