Katty V. Nelson is an associate in Wicker Smith’s Miami Office handling automotive, civil litigation, construction, insurance agent errors, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, premises liability and product liability cases.
In 2007, Ms. Nelson graduated from the University of Miami with a double major in Psychology and Spanish Literature and also with a minor in Business Law. After completing her undergraduate studies, she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, Ms. Nelson served as a judicial intern for the Honorable James Lawrence King in United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She also worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office, where she assisted in prosecuting criminal cases.
Prior to joining Wicker Smith, Ms. Nelson practiced insurance defense at another South Florida law firm where she represented major insurance companies, their policyholders, and corporations in all of the firm’s practice areas, including construction defect defense, commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, legal and medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense, premises liability defense, and subrogation issues.
Ms. Nelson was admitted to practice in the State of Florida in 2010 and is an active member of the Dade County Bar Association. Ms. Nelson is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice law before all county and circuit courts in the State of Florida. Ms. Nelson is fluent in Spanish.
