Joel Cope

Joel R. Cope is an associate in Wicker Smith’s Atlanta office, where he works in a variety of practice areas, focusing primarily on general liability retail and transportation.

During his legal career, Joel has practiced in a variety of areas including commercial law, Workers’ Compensation, automobile liability, premises liability, motor carrier law, homeowners’ association law, products liability, construction law and insurance. He has represented, and appeared on behalf of clients in litigation at depositions, hearings, mediations, Magistrate Court trials, Workers’ Compensation hearings as well as State and Superior Court jury trials. As such, he brings a wealth of experience to the firm.

Prior to joining Wicker Smith in 2024, Joel practiced as a Senior Associate at another prestigious Atlanta civil defense law firm where he represented insurers in subrogation matters and defended clients in auto accidents and premises cases. He attended Vanderbilt University, where he majored in Political Science and went on to continue his education at Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University, earning his Juris Doctor.

He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He is admitted to practice in all Georgia based Courts and also in the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia. Outside of practicing law, Joel enjoys playing team trivia, socializing with friends, college football and volunteering with various non-profits within the community.
