Jeffrey D. Thompson is a 30+ year attorney, currently licensed in both Kentucky and Florida. Mr. Thompson is an associate in the Tampa, Florida office and has been involved with the defense of claims and lawsuits in Florida and Kentucky in the areas of medical malpractice, premises liability, employment, auto claims and general liability matters, wherein the alleged damages have ranged from soft-tissue claims to catastrophic injuries including amputation, brain damage, disfigurement and death.
Prior to joining Wicker Smith, Mr. Thompson worked as a medical malpractice attorney in Kentucky where he litigated medical malpractice claims in both Kentucky and Florida. He has tried approximately 60 trials in both Kentucky and Florida, and Jeff was listed in 2012 by the Kentucky Trial Court Reporter as the “Most Prolific Trial Attorney” in the State. Mr. Thompson left Kentucky in 2013 and joined a civil litigation firm in Orlando as its director of litigation, handling auto cases, explosions, premises liability and employment matters. He has successfully represented clients though the appeals process in state and federal courts, including the Kentucky Supreme Court, and the United States Courts of Appeals in the Eleventh and Sixth Circuits.
Mr. Thompson holds an undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Kentucky, and he also obtained certification in mediation and arbitration from DePaul University College of Law and College of Business in Chicago. When not practicing law, Jeff worked for 20 years as a high school and college football referee, and he is an avid oil painter, specializing in portraits. He is a married father of two adult children, and tries not to miss any opportunity to golf, bike or paddle-board throughout the Tampa area.
