Damon Scott

Damon M. Scott is an associate at Wicker Smith’s Atlanta office, where he focuses on transportation and commercial litigation. With a diverse background spanning finance, education, and law, Damon offers clients a unique, multifaceted approach to complex litigation, particularly in the insurance and trucking sectors.

Damon’s career began in public accounting, first as a transaction advisor at Arthur Andersen and later at Grant Thornton, where he provided strategic guidance to private equity firms acquiring small and middle-market companies. He transitioned to commercial lending, serving as an Assistant Vice President at JP Morgan Chase and later as a Vice President at Merrill Lynch. Damon’s deep understanding of financial operations and corporate transactions gives him a distinct advantage in navigating commercial disputes and advising businesses on risk management and liability concerns.

After his successful career in finance, Damon became an award-winning educator, teaching accounting, tax, and business law for over a decade. His instructional career began as an Accounting Instructor at Atlanta Technical College and culminated as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Business Law at Kennesaw State University. As an educator, Damon honed his ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively — a skill that enhances his litigation strategy and client counseling.

Damon’s legal career began in commercial litigation at a prominent regional firm, representing small and middle-market companies in breach of contract claims in both state and federal court. Prior to joining Wicker Smith in 2025, he gained extensive experience in transportation and commercial litigation at a prestigious national defense firm.

A native of Gary, Indiana, Damon is an avid golfer and a budding jazz pianist. Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Appel Room in particular, is his favorite place to be, followed closely by Smoke Jazz Club in Harlem and the Blue Note in Greenwich Village.
