Craig KochheiserBiographyCraig Kochheiser is an associate in the West Palm Beach office of Wicker Smith, where his practice focuses mostly on medical malpractice matters. Craig is a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having spent over twenty years as a non-commissioned officer in Special Forces, colloquially known as a ‘Green Beret’. Throughout much of his career he served in a tactical intelligence capacity: focusing on battlefield forensics, human intelligence, and targeting. Over the course of his career, Craig deployed numerous times around the world as a member of a Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha; these deployments include a total of 48 months’ time in Afghanistan/Iraq as well as just over two years deployed to Latin America. A highlight of his military career was the opportunity to serve as the operations sergeant for a multi-national Special Operations Task Force countering ISIS attack worldwide. Craig earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Florida State University, where he had the opportunity to attend courses while serving as a ROTC instructor to future officers. Following his military retirement in 2022, he attended University of Miami School of Law earning a joint J.D. and LLM in Maritime Law. During law school, Craig was involved in the Maritime Law Society, the Veterans Law Student Society, and as a student member in Inns of the Court. He earned two Director’s Awards in UM’s prestigious litigation skills course, three CALI Book Awards, and a pro bono award before graduating cum laude in 2025. Craig joined Wicker Smith as a law clerk in 2023, working under the guidance of the medical malpractice litigation team. Prior to finishing law school, he was selected for a semester-long internship in the Criminal Division of the Office of the U.S. Attorney, Southern District of Florida. He joined Wicker Smith as a full-time associate upon his admission to the Florida Bar in 2025.
