Biography

Stephen D. Houser is an associate in Wicker Smith’s Orlando office and has been with the firm for 15 years.  His practice focuses entirely on litigation matters in all aspects of the construction industry.

Mr. Houser began his career as a professional engineer, working for six years with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Division of United Technologies before attending law school.  His extensive background in engineering gives him a keen understanding of the complexities inherent in construction litigation.  In addition to working at Wicker Smith, Mr. Houser managed his own firm handling litigation and transactional matters in construction law, contract law and general negligence.  He also served as a managing attorney with St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company, responsible for a staff of attorneys and litigation claims involving construction site negligence and other commercial matters.  He has represented developers, general contractors, sub-contractors and design professionals for both residential and commercial properties throughout Florida.

Admitted to practice in the state of Florida in 1985, Mr. Houser earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 1984.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Purdue University in 1974.
