Kevin W. Crews

Biography

 

Kevin W. Crews is a partner resident of Wicker Smith’s Naples office, responsible for overseeing office operations. Over the last 15 years, Mr. Crews has engaged in active civil and administrative trial practice, focusing on the defense of corporate institutions and professional liability.  Mr. Crews has significant experience in the handling and trying of catastrophic injury cases involving hospital and medical negligence, products liability, automobile liability, and commercial transportation liability. In addition, he maintains an active civil litigation practice including construction defects and general civil and commercial litigation. Mr. Crews is a former Agency for Health Care Administration Senior Attorney, (now known as the Department of Health) and currently handles the defense of Healthcare regulatory matters, including licensure investigations and discipline proceedings for healthcare facilities and licensed healthcare practitioners.

 

He serves as a principal trial counsel for Naples Community Healthcare System, handling hospital and medical negligence cases, general liability cases, and Department of Health investigations.  Additionally, Mr. Crews is one of the lead trial counsels for Health Management Associates, a publicly traded healthcare company with 20 hospitals in Florida and more than 60 nationwide. Additionally, he represents multiple fortune 500 companies as well as Nationwide, Scottsdale, The Medical Protective Company, The Doctors Company, Hudson Insurance and Caronia.

 

Mr. Crews’ achievements throughout his career have been recognized by his peers, earning him an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded to attorneys.  Mr. Crews earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University and his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University in 1994. He is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute, Florida Medical Malpractice Claims Counsel, and the American Inns of Court. In addition he is a member of the American Bar Association, Collier County Bar Association, Lee County Bar Association and Dade County Bar association.  He is also a member of the Orange Bowl Committee, which is responsible for hosting the NCAA Orange Bowl Championship Game and various other community events throughout the year.  Mr. Crews is a frequent invited lecturer for educational seminars and other speaking engagements around the state of Florida.
