Shelley H. Leinicke Biography
Shelley H. Leinicke joined Wicker Smith in 1983 and serves as the department head of the appellate practice for the firm’s seven offices. In her 30 year career, Shelley has handled over 400 appeals as lead or sole appellate attorney before the Florida District Court of Appeal, the Florida Supreme Court and various federal appellate courts. She has represented clients in a wide range of complex issues involving products liability, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, construction litigation, insurance policy interpretation, negligence, personal injury, automobile liability, and patent and trademark law.
In her general trial practice, Shelley focuses her work on legal malpractice, medical malpractice, officer and director liability, wrongful death, personal injury, aviation law, insurance policy interpretation and bad faith. Shelley also has earned an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded by that organization.
Shelley earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University in 1971, and went on to earn her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1977. An accomplished appellate practitioner, Shelley is admitted to practice in State and Federal Courts in the State of Florida as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States. She is currently a member of the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, the Appellate Practice & Advocacy Section of The Florida Bar, the Miami-Dade and Broward County Bar Associations, the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute.
